More Adventures

So I have been meaning to blog more but I've noticed it's almost been a week since the last post I have made! Gotta get my shit together!

So John and Murdena are now gone:( But we had an amazing week together! It is rare that John and I get to spend that much time together so we definitely made the most of it!

Wednesday
We all bought bus and boat tour passes so the three of us spent the day touring the city. Highlights included the botanic gardens (which I thought were going to be kind of boring but were actually so cool!), going to another mall..... (the death of poor me!) and going to Holyrood Palace.

In front of Holyrood where the Queen stays when she comes to Scotland.

Thursday
I had to perform with the girls and the Norwegian band so I spent the morning practicing and then I did a step dancing part in the show to ABBA. John and his mom came to watch and then we went on a bus and boat tour. It was really beautiful but it was VERY behind schedule so I didn't enjoy as much because I was so stressed about making it back in time.... Fortunately I made it back at 6:07 and was dressed and hair done at 6:15... MIRACLE!

Friday
We went to the Zoo! It was so cool! And it was a gorgeous day out! I have to say apart from the bipolar weather of the first week, the second week was so sunny and nice! My favorite part of the zoo was climbing this rope jungle gym sort of thing. It was so scary but so exhilarating. I also really liked the hippos and zebras:)

Saturday
This was our last day together so I hung out with John at his place and I did laundry... Except I didnt really understand the machine so instead of drying my clothes it washed them twice.... I was so mad! We then went to eat and then walked all 287 steps to the top of Scots Monument! We then had two shows on Saturday and then we went out to the Espionage where I had to say bye to John:(

Yesterday
I finally got to sleep in!! I had more of a relaxing day and laid outside and watched a movie and cleaned my room. We then had a beer pong tournament which really only consisted of 3 games and then played never have I ever. We then went to a pub named Whiskey Binkys but Amanda and I thought it was lame so we went home. I skyped Britt and Kay and went to sleep and was later awoken by some of the girls with snacks;)

Today
Last but not least today I got up and went and met ASH!!! Finally! We did the Underground Tour with some of the other College Crew which was interesting. We then climbed Arthur`s Seat (a mountain in Edinburgh). It was such a workout! Not to mention Ash was wearing rain boots and I was wearing flats. Needless to say it was an amazing view and it was good to see everyone from the College!
Tonight I get to perform for them in the Tattoo (so excited!)

Back in Action!

So it's been a BUSY couple of days! There's constantly something to do so I really haven't had a lot of time to do blog! But don't worry I am back in action!

John and I at Espionage!

A couple of the girls and I after the bar looking all hot!
Saturday John and his mom got here but I literally only got to see them for a half hour because we have TWO shows on Saturday nights! Saturday was also one of the girls, Lindsay's birthdays so we went out after we got home! We went to the Espionage which has 5 floors and is open until 5am...... Anyways it was awesome and John came too which was also awesome. So Saturday night I got a total of 3 hours of sleep....

Sunday I got up early so I could spend time with John and Murdena. We walked part of the Royal Mile and then we went and toured the castle. It was kinda foggy but we still got some amazing photos!
I then had to go back to campus because we had a Cast BBQ. It was actually so much fun! I even drank wine! It was great to meet all our cast members. The Norwegians are soooo nice and friendly and I even made a new Scottish friend Heather!

John and I at the castle!

I then went out for supper with John and his mom and then crashed and went to bed!

Monday, John and I went to Camera Obscura which is like an interactive museum kind of thing.... It was pretty cool. We then went to the Tattoo Shop and then Primark (again!) and H&M.... H&M is sooooo much better in the UK. Like everything is so nice and cheap! I then had to go home and get ready for the Tattoo. It was raining last night so we had to dance on wet concrete. It was definately an experience! Thank god no one fell and the rain stopped before we went on stage! We also got to meet the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs who came to watch the show last night!
Last night we weren't allowed to go out so I planned on going to bed early however I had a bunch of documents to read for my pharmacy program so I spent a couple of hours doing that..... Not fun trying to figure out courses and registration on a different continent.... But then I realized how lucky I am to have accomplished so much in 1 year that it really wasn't that bad.

John and I at Camera Obscura:)

This morning I had to wake up early to clean my room (room inspection tonight.... yikes!) and to register for my courses. Thank god it was easy and I figured it out quickly!
Today we all went to Glasgow for a trip! It was a long bus ride but we ate a really nice pub...BEST fish and chips ever! AND there was such good shopping! However I refrained and only bought one cheap dress because my shopping addiction is getting a bit much to handle.......We then met up with some of the College of Piping crew:) and then we had to head back to Edinburgh to get ready for the tattoo tonight. We took the train! It was a cool experience for sure:)

Reunited with some of the College crew:)
Lisa and I on the train!
Lastly, John and Murdena are coming to the show tonight! I am so excited to have someone I know in the crowd and for them to witness me accomplishing something I have always dreamed of doing!

That's all for now! Stay tuned for more updates.... hopefully I can be more on top of it again so that the post isn't so long!

More rehearsals!

Another day, another rehearsal. Thank god I have had a lot of practice of how fun and long rehearsals can be from doing Highland Storm! The last two days we have been filled with rehearsals in the morning and then the afternoons are pretty much free and then finishing the day with even more rehearsals. Today we are practicing the whole show 4 times! Some of the numbers are sooo amazing I think my parents, sister, John and Murdena are really going to like it! The COP drummers are also going to LOVE the Top Secret drum squad!

Anyways between rehearsals and eating I haven't been doing too much. I can't wait til we have more free time and can go exploring and be tourists! That way I will actually have stuff to blog about!

Just wanted to add yesterday we went downtown again in the afternoon to grab some stuff and we took the bus! So proud of myself;) We got a little lost and separated on the way back so we took a taxi but I'm definitely going to attempt the bus again... Maybe even use it both ways! (Gotta get used to it before I move to Hali!)

My goal for the rest of the week is to take more pictures because so far I have a total of 3..... As I would say to Kearsney... gotta get my shit together:)

First day here!

So yesterday we finally got to Scotland!!! YAY! Everyone was so welcoming:) We went straight to rehearsal and learned our parts. We went to supper where we were practicing and it surprisingly wasn't as gross as Kearsney had warned me! We then had more rehearsal and then came back to our residence and got our rooms and internet! Our rooms are really nice and we even get our OWN bathroom! I'm like next to the kitchen which can get loud and is kind of isolated but my own bathroom definately makes up for it. Lights out were early but I couldn't get to sleep  because of the time difference but eventually the exhaustion from the flight nightmares got the best of me and I fell asleep.

Today we had to be ready for 7:15 breakfast which is on our own campus and the food is actually kinda good! We went and rehearsed outside and I actually got to dance in the dance rather than on the sidelines which was such a relief because I was pretty stressed about the formations. After rehearsals we went back to our residence and got more GOOD food and then we got our costumes.... We look like whiskey fairies;) We then had free time so me and a couple of the girls walked downtown and went to PRIMARK..... BEST STORE EVER. So cheap. Four floors.. Cannot wait for Jodi to come! She will love it:) Then we went to Boots and I had to buy a straightener because I possibly busted mine..... (John HELP!) But it was only 10 pounds so no biggie. I also had to get waterproof mascara because the weather here is BIPOLAR. I swear to god mother nature cannot choose to by sunny, rainy, hot or cold. It's all four of those in a span of an hour ALL day long!

Tonight we have the first rehearsal at the castle!! So exciting:)

Another Cancelled Flight....

So we got to the airport at 12:00pm today to find out our 4:40pm flight was delayed and we would miss our connection. They fortunately switched us to the earlier flight which was delayed until 2:40pm. We got onto the flight and then were taken off the flight again due to delays from thunderstorms and construction in Newark. We then had a 1 hour delay and were put back on the flight to learn that there were mechanical issues and our flight was cancelled..... AGAIN....  And to make things even worse the flight attendant was a complete BITCH! We finally got put on a new airline and are flying out tonight at 11:45 to London on Air Canada (never flying United again!!!) and then we are flying from London to Edinburgh at 1:45. We even got to visit with John again and have supper together.

We were all very worried about catching up with the rehearsals we missed today but thanks to Veronica who taped them we are now practicing the steps in the airport. Can`t wait until we`re there in person tomorrow.... Fingers crossed!!

PS Highlight of our trip so far was meeting Cyndi Lauper!!! Girls just wanna have fun:)

Still in Hali.....

So we're still in Halifax.....
Yesterday we all arrived at the airport at 1:30pm and checked in and found out that our flight was delayed because of thunderstorms and tornado warnings. After many delays we finally got on the airplane at 7:00pm. We went on the tarmac and found out that we were delayed until 8:00. At 8, we found out that we were delayed another hour and ten minutes. By 9:00pm we were still not allowed to take off so we were taken back to the departure gate. Except we went the wrong way and had no doors to go through. A security person finally let us through thinking we were passengers entering Canada from the States.... We weren't and  were not allowed to get back onto our flight until we went through security again however security closed at 4:30pm..... After waiting three hours we finally got put in a hotel for the next two nights and re-booked onto a flight for Saturday at 4:40pm..... We also found out that our flight was eventually allowed to leave but only left with 8 people. Thank god we didn't get on that flight though because there were no accommodations in Newark due to no flights coming or going. To make it even worse Amanda's baggage was destroyed.
After all that hassle, we hadn't had anything to eat so my knight in shining armor (John) came and got us and took us to get some food after 12 hours of not eating....

Today we slept in and went shopping and anxiously waiting to leave tomorrow so our REAL adventure can begin!

Thought I'd attach a pic of all before we found out we weren't going to Scotland for two more days.....

4 More Days!!!

The time has almost come: 4 more days 'til I start my month long adventure in Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Tattoo. I'm so excited to be able to cross this item off my bucket list. This has been on my list of goals since I was basically 10!

Stay tuned for more info about my amazing trip:)
